Les Deux Alpes - France
Les Deux Alpes sits at 1650m in the Dauphine region of Isere, close to the Italian border, and rises to a glacial peak of 3600m. It's biggest asset is its large glacier (the largest in Europe) which enables Les Deux Alpes to survive as a year-round ski resort. It forms part of the Grand Galaxie ski area, which includes the resorts of Serre Chevalier and Alpe d'Huez, and is popular with French, English and Italians alike.

Les Deux Alpes main selling points are the wide range of accommodation options - making it a viable option for both budget travellers and
families, its huge glacier with relatively gentle blues and greens, an excellently maintained snowpark and boardercross area, and a brilliant
apres-ski scene.
Most of the
accommodation runs along the road that cuts through the resort, and as a result your apartment or hotel is never far from the piste. Although it could once have been described as a concrete monstrosity, many of the buildings that line the main thoroughfare have recently had face-lifts, with many of them now looking like authentic alpine chalets.
The ski area itself is compromised of 220kms and the lift system is modern and fast. Although it sometimes suffers from overcrowding during the busy French holiday period (the two weeks in mid February and the Easter holidays at the end of March). Les Deux Alpes' excellent snow record and good après-ski facilities make this an attractive resort for any ability of skier.
