Food and drink

Eating out is a big part of the ski experience in North America as most accommodation is sold ‘room only’. There are 90 restaurants offering everything from burgers and steaks to Thai, Italian, Greek and Indian dishes. The proximity to the sea ensures plenty of fish dishes, with the local specialities being Pacific Salmon and Vancouver Island Oysters. There are numerous places to eat on a budget and they will seem even better value than comparable European restaurants with the present exchange rate. In stark contrast the mountain restaurants are all run by the resort, all resemble canteens and deserve no further mention!
 
The nightlife in Whistler is legendary and there are numerous bars around the foot of the slopes that are lively from mid-afternoon onwards. Most people stay out and go straight to dinner, such is the informal dress code here, and if you still have the energy there is a vibrant music scene with famous DJs and live acts performing regularly.
